According to Live 5 News, Angel Vause, 56, of Georgetown, is facing two charges for making a false statement to a federal agent about her knowledge of Drexel’s 2009 kidnapping and murder by Vause’s boyfriend, Raymond Moody.
Vause appeared inside a federal courtroom in Charleston Tuesday and was expected to plead guilty to two counts of making a false statement to a federal agent.
Vause is accused of lying to federal investigators about where she was the night of Drexel’s death and that she had gone with Vause and Moody willingly. But when disputing the facts, Vause said she did go to Georgetown that night as she had originally told investigators.
Now, Vause’s case will go to trial for the two charges she was already facing that could land her up to 16 years in prison.
Willey stated to the Post & Courier that Drexel’s mother, Dawn Conley, was ‘overjoyed’ the plea deal fell through and a superseding kidnapping charge will be brought. “Dawn looks forward to full justice being delivered,” Willey added.
The U.S. Attorney who was prosecuting the case, Winston Holliday, said they will supersede the indictment and likely add a kidnapping charge, where if Angel Vause is found guilty, could add 30 years to life in prison.
